About SHICK | ||||||||||||||||||||||
The Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas (SHICK) program uses more than 400 trained volunteers, working through 13 regional sponsoring organizations across the state, to help Kansans understand their Medicare benefits. SHICK counselors provide information and assistance with Medicare claims and appeals; Medicare Part D; Medicare supplemental insurance (Medigap) policies; and long-term care financing and options. SHICK counselors also help eligible consumers access the assistance programs offered by pharmaceutical companies to reduce medication costs. Services are available to all Kansas Medicare beneficiaries and are provided at no cost to the customer. SHICK is funded by a grant from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) in Washington, D.C.
